Wavy Shell Stitch Border Edging
How to Crochet a Wavy Shell Stitch Border Edging
Here’s a nice 3D wavy shell stitch border edging. This crochet pattern works great on the edge of baby blankets, afghans, shawls, scarves, and more. It is created by making several double crochet stitches in a ring on top of a solid double crochet border. These clusters form a 3D wave or ripple effect.
The stitches used in this pattern include the chain, double crochet, and slip stitch. You can use any size or weight yarn you wish. For this sample, I’m using a worsted weight yarn and a size G hook.
The stitch pattern is a multiple of 4. So you can use any side that has 20 stitches, or 40, 80, 88, 100, etc. If you plan on putting this border around an entire blanket, you will need to add 1 stitch to each of the 4 corners. The how-to tutorial video shows all of these steps.
